anna and katherine – san francisco child photographer

you may remember these lovely sisters from about a year ago. mom wanted updated portraits, and i was happy to hang out with them again! i had so much fun with these two girls last time – they were giggly, fun, silly…and not to mention, gorgeous! i loved capturing the bond they had with each other – it made me a wee bit jealous, since i’m an only child and i had always wanted a sister growing up. ah, sisterly love. it makes me smile :)

we headed out to the presidio and spent some time just walking around the area. i still love this spot so much!

silly girls…love it!

i had a fabulous time you girls – thanks! :) keep that sisterly bond strong for life!

edita and anthony – san francisco couples photographer

edita and anthony’s love story starts on two continents: she hails from lithuania, he from utah. they met online a few years ago, she came out to america, and they married. they lived in utah for a while, and moved out to the bay area a few months earlier. they just celebrated their third anniversary late last month, and they wanted photos to commemorate this time in their life. i was more than happy to capture their love on film for them. i loved watching how they playfully teased each other and made each other laugh, how they talked to each other, jpw they looked into each others’ eyes, how they showed affection. it’s easy to see their love and it warms my heart.

i had sooooo much fun hanging out with this FABULOUS couple. edita is such a beauty, and anthony is a total stud. the camera couldn’t love them enough! edita said that they wanted a location with funky backgrounds, construction, and preferably near the beach. when i heard that combination, the first place i thought of was the presidio, which may or may not be my new favorite location to shoot ;)

lots and lots of favorites, i tell ya.

one of the professional dancers’ names on “dancing with the stars” is named edita, and i pointed out that fact to these guys. anthony joked, “yeah, she can’t dance so that’s not her.” i don’t buy that, i though they were fabulous at it! :)

this field + golden light = absolute magic. SWOOOOOOOOOOOON. (and yes, i squealed about it. about 100 times)

these two look like rockstars here, and these look like they should be on the cover of their new album. told you they were FAB-U-LOUS.

stud.

they got this blanket as a wedding gift, and wanted some photos with it. i thought it was the perfect prop, especially for beach shots!

GOOOOOORGEOUS.

thanks, guys! happy anniversary! :)

christine and emjay – san francisco couples photographer – fort point, crissy field

christine and emjay they met in chicago, enduring 12 long, cold winters before moving out to (not-so) sunny san francisco, which they are loving. they never had engagement photos taken when they were actually engaged, so seven years of marriage and three kids later, they wanted to do an “engagement session.” in christine’s words: “a photo session that didn’t involve getting kids to cooperate and just be for the 2 of us would be a great treat!”

these two wanted a location that reflected their love of san francisco, but wasn’t super cheesy and cliche. we ended up starting out at fort point, pranced around crissy field for a bit, and then ended up with some shots with the golden gate bridge in the background anyway (avoiding cliche fail. but you can’t go wrong with the bridge since it’s so pretty!!). of course, it was super windy and cold and foggy AGAIN on the afternoon of their shoot – that screams san francisco, eh? and once again, i kept on whining about how freezing i was as i was bundled up in a coat, but not a peep from them. my clients are all total troopers so i think i need to suck it up and stop whining every time i’m shooting in freezing weather (which seems to be ALL THE TIME lately. hmph)! but seriously, though. I THOUGHT IT WAS SUMMER?!

i digress.

anyhow. christine and emjay were totally sweet and you could see that their love and adoration for each other was as strong as ever after seven years. AWWWWWW. i love seeing couples in love! they warm my heart and make me so happy :) what a great thing to be able to capture!

a bunch of faves!

they are smokin’ in the next two:

cutest jumping photo ever. and the “ready, set” photo on the left made me laugh too :)

love their expressions in this set:

i love this one:

thanks, guys! :)

lindsey – the presidio – san francisco senior photographer

lindsey is here from upstate new york for the summer, and wanted to do a shoot while she was in san francisco. we were both hoping for some sun and a teensy little bit of warmth, but of course, it ended up being your typical chilly, blustery san francisco afternoon. grrrr. she said she’s been surprised at how chilly it gets in the city sometimes – i mean, seriously, is this california, and are we in summer?! despite the weather though, lindsey rocked her shoot.

lindsey is staying in the presidio for the summer, and she knew of some cool spots in the area that she sees in the neighborhood every day. i am quickly becoming a HUGE fan of the presidio – it’s got so much variety and i keep finding new places every time i’m there! you’ve got the beach and grass at crissy field, the golden gate bridge, a ton of naturey spots, along with some funky, cool old buildings. gotta love it. i’m hoping to explore this area further in the near future – there’s so much here that i haven’t seen yet!

i love the outfits lindsey chose to bring to her shoot…that jacket is super awesome and loooove that sailor dress! and the red lipstick? awesomeness! :) and she was up for anything, including climing in a tree, posing in a construction zone, and making her way through itchy tall weeds. she’s a trooper for sure!

anyway. lindsay and i had tons of fun traipsing through her neighborhood. she probably thought i was a huge dork for freaking out over every new location we discovered. haha. the pictures are worth it though! :)

(i said this area called for a reading scene. i happened to have a copy of eat, pray love in my bag so i handed it to her and had her do this).

looooove grungy old buildings like this :)

i completely freaked out when we came across the next location. tall mustard blooms in front of an old buidling?! HELLOOOOOOO!

pretty girl!

then we came across tall weeds in front of another grungy old building. i freaked out yet again. the only thing that would’ve made this even better was if there was golden sunlight!! but seriously?! LOOOOVE.

i am in love with this dress:

we found a super cool tree…

thanks, lindsey!! enjoy the rest of your time in san francisco – hopefully, it’ll warm up a tad :)

danelle – class of 2011 – san francisco senior portrait photographer

the weather on the day of danelle’s shoot was NOT in our favor. it was super windy, it was freezing, and it was slightly drizzling. NOT a good day to shoot. you could see the sun on the marin side across the bridge, and the fog was thick as ever on the SF side – it was almost as if it was taunting us! seriously, you could not ask for worse conditions (is it seriously summer? because it sure didn’t feel like it). i couldn’t feel my fingers at times (not a good sign when you have to keep clicking the shutter!) – and i was the one with warm clothes on!

danelle, however, was not. i was about to ask her if she wanted to postpone her shoot for a warmer day, but she was determined. you could hardly tell that she was freezing – she just kept going on and posing for shot after shot, flashing one beautiful smile after another, even while wearing a tank top and a sleeveless dress in super chilly weather. while i kept whining that it was freeeeeeezing, there was not a peep from her. what a trooper. and from these photos, except for maybe the wind-blown hair (no need for a wind machine here in san francisco!), you couldn’t tell that it was freezing. not at all. what a rockstar! tyra would be proud.

danelle is one of my senior models for this 2010-2011 school year, and i could not ask for a sweeter, more fabulous, more gorgeous girl. seriously. LOOK AT HER. she’s a beauty. and she’s got a gorgeous smile. again, if she wasn’t so awesome, i might just really, REALLY hate her!

we headed out to the presidio and crissy field. we spent some time shooting in this flower field (which has been cut down somewhat since i was last there. booooo), and the forest, then headed down to the grassy areas of crissy field. i am starting to REALLY love the presidio lately (and i have a shoot to post with the most AWESOME location. but i digress). anyway. here are my (many) favorites!

(it wasn’t hard to get danelle to laugh. her friend chanel was around to coach her and crack her up, and also i’m a dork. heh)

probably my faaaaaavorite!

check out all that volume in her hair. it’s all a result of the craaaaazy wind. au naturel, baby!

this is one of the ONLY photos i have of her NOT smiling…

thank you sooooo much, danelle!! looking forward to an exciting year with you!
